耶穌聖心節前夕，艾神父離開告解亭時，已經是十一時三十分了。

一位年青的女孩走來，向告解神父說：

「我哥哥活不過今天晚上，神父，請你來我家，因為他已經好多年不領聖事了。」

    神父帶著聖經跟著她走了。當他們到家時，女孩子對神父說：
「神父，我應該告訴您，我哥哥不讓我去請您來，當時我沒告訴您，是怕您不願來。」

  當神父走進病房時，看到可怕的情景。這個人坐在床上，很兇的說：

「誰那麼大膽，竟敢讓你進來？」母親被嚇到了，就離開房間。

神父走近床邊說道：「不許詛咒，聽我說！」
神父就開始講論仁慈的耶穌聖心，並告訴這個罪人，在天亮以前，他將站在天主面前接受審判。

「明天是可敬的耶穌聖心節，請接受祂給的寬恕吧。」

   這個人變得非常安靜，神父很熱心的祈禱，等候他的回音。

時候到了，他說：「喔，我不能拒絕耶穌聖心的要求！」

他領受了和好聖事，他的母親和妹妹陪著他領受了臨終聖體及病人傅油聖事，他請求母親原諒他離開天主的那段日子，對她所做的一切錯事。領聖事後不久，他離開人間。耶穌聖心又得了一次勝利！

13.The Forgiveness of Sacred Heart of Jesus

     It was the eve of the Feast of the Sacred Heart, and when Father R. left the confessional, it was half-past eleven.   A young girl approached him and told him that her brother would not live through the night.  “Will you please come, Father, for he has not received the sacraments for many years?”

        The priest took the Blesses Sacrament and followed her.   When they entered the house, the girl turned to the priest and said,  “Father, I think I should inform you that my brother has refused to have us send for you.   I did not tell you before  for I was afraid you might not wish to come.”

        When the priest entered the sickroom there was a terrible scene.   The man sat up in bed and fiercely asked:  “Who has dared to send for you?”   The mother, horror-stricken, left the room.   Approaching the bed, Father said, “Stop cursing and listen to me!”   He spoke kindly of the merciful Heart of Christ and told this sinner that before dawn he would appear before the judgment seat of God.   “Tomorrow is the Feast of the adorable Heart of Jesus; accept the pardon He extends to you.”

        The man became very quiet, while the priest, praying fervently, waited for his answer.   At last it came,  “Oh, I cannot refuse the Heart of Christ what He asks!” He made his confession and his mother and sister were present while he received holy Viaticum and the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.   He begged his mother’s forgiveness for the way in which he had treated her during the years he was far from God.

        Shortly after receiving the sacraments the end came.   The Heart of Jesus had won another victory!
